LampCommerce is the premier multi-brand e-commerce platform owned by the renowned Italian lighting group, Fabbian. A leader in the luxury sector, LampCommerce retails designer lighting and accessories from prestigious Italian and international brands, including Artemide, Flos, and Foscarini. The store serves a discerning global clientele who demand both aesthetic excellence and technical reliability.
The Challenge
The existing PrestaShop solution, which had served the brand for years, could no longer support LampCommerce’s global ambitions. To unlock new growth and ensure long-term scalability, a total infrastructure overhaul was required. The primary challenges were both technical and commercial:
- Reflecting Prestige at Scale: The previous design failed to communicate the premium value of the collections, which often featured high-end price points. The new layout needed to evoke a luxury feel while maintaining a seamless, intuitive user journey.
- Platform Obsolescence: The legacy system lacked the industry-standard marketing and promotional tools essential for growth, limiting the agility of digital campaigns and the brand’s reach across European markets.
- Massive Data Migration: Moving to a new platform required the complete migration of a vast catalogue—exceeding 20,000 SKUs—from PrestaShop. This wasn’t just about moving product data; it required preserving complex relationships (variants, families, associations) and historical data to ensure a fully operational storefront from day one.


Migration strategy and platform choice
Having partnered with the Fabbian brand for many years, we identified that the next evolution of the store required an enterprise-grade platform. We recommended Magento 2 for its robust ability to handle extensive catalogues, complex data structures, and international expansion goals. Its native multi-store configuration, advanced pricing rules, and integrated marketing suite made it the ideal choice to support the project’s commercial requirements.
Data migration methodology
Our primary technical objective was a “zero-loss” data transfer. Moving 20,000 SKUs requires meticulous planning. We focused on data integrity to ensure that all complex product associations and historical order information remained intact, providing a consistent experience for returning customers.

- Custom VAT logic: To ensure full accounting compliance, we integrated a bespoke VAT logic that applies taxes based on the billing address for EU orders and removes them for non-EU destinations.

We completely reimagined the UI to align with LampCommerce’s market positioning:
- Visual Impact: The new homepage features high-resolution imagery and instant access to core brands via dynamic, modular sections for bestsellers and new arrivals.
- Optimised Product Pages: Designed as a fusion of visual storytelling and technical data, product pages now present essential information clearly without cluttering the luxury aesthetic.

Beyond the visual layer, we activated key operational integrations:
- Real-Time Stock Control: The platform is synced directly with the client’s warehouse management system, providing live inventory updates and eliminating the risk of overselling high-value items.
- Payments and Shipping: We integrated multiple payment gateways (including Scalapay and Amazon Pay) and leading couriers (TNT, DHL), alongside a third-party newsletter service to streamline customer retention.
